If you'd like to contact me, I'd be happy to hear from you, particularly if it's to tell me how much you like this blog and how you can't wait for the release of the book.

Or you can simply contact me to have a moan about multiple sclerosis. Up to you.

  1. Hi, Daniel. I've only just come across your comment. Thanks for reading the book. Glad you're enjoying it. With regards to how to write about MS, it depends really on what kind of story you want to write and what you hope to achieve. Is it fiction? Fiction based on your own story with MS? Narrative non-fiction? Without knowing, but presuming you want it to be read by as many people as possible, I'd say a key consideration is to always think about how interesting a section will be to a stranger. Always keep your audience in mind. You might sometimes be told to concentrate on writing the story you want to write and just hope that other people want to read that story, but it can lead to self-indulgence (see the novel I wrote in my 20s that was supposed to be the new Catcher in the Rye, but remains a work of undiscovered genius/crapness). With regards to writing about MS in Balls to MS, I aimed to be as honest as I could be. I did regret that frankness a little, though, when my mother insisted on reading it.
